We have released the first major update to the mobile version of Jacks or Better Pro '98 since its initial launch.

Jacks or Better Pro '98 is designed to be a traditional, old-school version of the game with none of the modern fluff to distract you from the action...and still deliver a great experience on mobile.

New icon

We've got a brand new icon. To say it's an improvement over the old one would be an understatement.

New feature: Strategy Trainer

Unlike a typical slot machine, video poker is actually a skill based game and requires a strategy in order to play well. Some luck doesn't hurt either of course! A strategy therefore is a set of plays you should make with the intention of maximizing your wins and minimizing your losses. We added a trainer right into the app to help you learn a simplified strategy that will help you achieve a new high score!

Enable the Strategy Trainer to see round history and to show the extra HUD features when playing. There are 16 plays, arranged in order of priority. These plays tell you which cards (if any) you should hold.

You'll then see the HUD appear that shows a summary of how many plays you've gotten right according to the strategy. The green light or red light will flash whether you've gotten the play right or wrong.

Later you can review the round history and see what you got right and what went wrong.

Other fixes and improvements

We fixed some other issues too. Gone is the blurry text that was appearing on some devices. There was also a sneaky memory leak that made the sound effects start to snap, crackle and pop after some extended play.
